Zenit St Petersburg match abandoned after pitch invasion

Zenit match abandoned over crowd trouble

Zenit St Petersburg's match against Dynamo Moscow was abandoned on Sunday after fans invaded the pitch with their side losing 4-2.

The supporters ran on the pitch as a loss could cost them the Russian Premier League title.

The home side began the match one point ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow with two games left in the Russian league.

Zenit boss Andre Villas-Boas went on to the pitch in an attempt to stop the trouble, but Dynamo captain Vladimir Granat was punched in the head by a fan.

Villas-Boas replaced Luciano Spalletti as manager of Zenit in March.
