John McCombe joins York City

York City have signed former Mansfield Town defender John McCombe on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 28-year-old moved to Field Hill in the summer, but has now departed after making just seven league appearances for York's League Two rivals.

"I'm really excited. Obviously I'm glad to get it all done after working hard on it for the past week or so," McCombe told the club's official website.

"I'm glad to be here and will be glad to be back playing football again. I'm someone who gives 100% which hopefully the fans will appreciate. I'm just a good defender and hopefully a good leader too."

McCombe has also previously played for Port Vale.
