Oxford United held at York City

Oxford held at York

Oxford United have played out a goalless draw with York City at Bootham Crescent in League Two.

The visitors dominated proceedings in the opening minutes, with James Constable coming close twice to scoring twice in quick succession.

Chances soon dried up, though, as Josh Carson had York's first meaningful opportunity of breaking the deadlock just past the half-hour mark but his left-footed shot failed to hit the target.

The second half appeared to follow the pattern of the first, with Danny Rose of Oxford seeing his shot from distance saved 10 minutes into the restart.

However, York stepped up their game thereafter as Ryan Jarvis and Michael Coulson tested goalkeeper Ryan Clarke in quick succession around the hour mark.

Oxford also launched attacks at the other end with Dave Kitson, Constable and Asa Hall all putting York keeper Aaron McCarey under pressure.

However, both sides had to settle for a draw, which means that Oxford are now a point behind leaders Chesterfield in second place, while York are a point above the relegation zone.
