FIFA: 'No re-vote for Russia, Qatar World Cups'

FIFA insist that the 2018 and 2022 World Cups will still go ahead despite corruption allegations.

FIFA have insisted that the 2018 and 2022 World Cups will still go ahead despite corruption allegations surrounding the organisation.

Several FIFA officials were arrested in Zurich on Wednesday morning by US authorities on charges of receiving millions of dollars in bribes.

A separate corruption investigation has been opened by Swiss prosecutors into the allocation of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which are due to be held in Russia and Qatar respectively.

However, FIFA have made it clear that they will not consider a re-vote for those tournaments.

"The World Cup 2018 and 2022 will be played in Russia and Qatar," FIFA director of information and public affairs Walter De Gregorio told reporters.

Friday's FIFA presidential election is still due to go ahead as planned.
