Wolverhampton Wanderers have seemingly seen their position regarding the future of Fabio Silva weakened over the past 24 hours.
With Silva having impressed on loan at Las Palmas during 2024-25, his stock has been enhanced at a time when he has just under one year remaining on his contract.
RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Roma have all been heavily linked with the Portugal international without being able to negotiate a deal with Wolves.
Reports have consistently suggested that the Premier League club want to generate in the region of £25m for Silva, a stance that has brought about little success.
As per several different reports, two of the three aforementioned teams are ready to move on from trying to sign the 23-year-old.
What are the recent Silva developments?
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig have instead decided to press ahead with the acquisition of Goztepe forward Romulo Cardoso.
The Bundesliga side have been in the market for a replacement for Benjamin Sesko and will seemingly be paying a package worth €25m (£21.6m) for the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk claims that Dortmund have moved away from negotiations with Wolves having been left frustrated by their unwillingness to lower their asking price.
Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavoleiri, who was commenting on X, says that Silva's preference is to sign for Roma.
That would come with complications courtesy of the Italian giants wanting to agree a loan deal with the obligation to buy that is considerably lower than Wolves' valuation of the player.
For that to be achievable, Wolves would need to agree a 12-month contract extension with Silva.
Nevertheless, Roma are also said to be willing to offer Silva a five-year deal, something that is seemingly proving to be an attractive proposition.
Time for Wolves to compromise
Wolves have already made a minimum of a £40m net-profit and significantly reduced their wage bill this summer, therefore do not necessarily need funds raised from Silva's departure for next year's accounts.
While head coach Vitor Pereira has revealed how many new signings that he is still expecting to be made, Wolves can raise immediate funds through other means.
Providing that Silva agrees to a 12-month contract extension and Roma a suitable obligation-to-buy fee, Wolves are at a point where they should compromise on their demands or risk their former £35m starlet leaving on a free transfer in 2026.
