Paul Lambert eyes quick results with Wolverhampton Wanderers

New Wolves manager Paul Lambert talks up the importance of making a fast start to his time at the club.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert has talked up the importance of making a quick start to his time at the club.

Lambert was unveiled as the sacked Walter Zenga's successor on Saturday, signing a one-year rolling contract at Molineux.

Wolves currently sit just three points clear of the relegation zone following a seven-game winless run, but Lambert hopes to harness the power of the club's fanbase to help them climb the Championship table.

"If we bounce off each other, we can be in for a good time. There's a fantastic fan base here and, if you have that, you have a chance. Even when I came here with Norwich and Blackburn, it was always a great atmosphere and we as a team have to get the fans going and give them something back," he told the club's official website.

"Everybody knows the pitfalls in football. If you don't get the results, you know exactly what's going to happen. The football club sold itself - the fan base and the history attached. The club is huge, but needs a bit of help to try to climb the table.

"It's up to us to generate things and get the stadium really going. It doesn't take much for it to lift. It just needs a bit of help and, if we can do that, let's see what happens. When you go into a club that has had a bit of a hard time, they are looking for an upsurge pretty quickly and to get some results on the board."

Lambert, whose first match in charge will come against Preston North End after the international break, is the club's sixth permanent boss in the last four years.
