Arouna Kone joined Wigan Athletic for "philosophy of the club"

Wigan Athletic's new signing Arouna Kone has revealed that he was sold into a move to the club by Latics boss Roberto Martinez.

The 28-year-old, who signed a three-year deal with the Premier League club on Tuesday, immediately praised his new manager.

"Roberto has told me about the philosophy of the club, how it's a family club. He is a young manager who is trying to build something special here," Kone told reporters.

Wigan face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
