Jermaine Pennant has insisted that he is ready to "muck in" to help Wigan Athletic stay in the Championship.
The former Liverpool and Stoke City winger, 32, signed a short-term deal with the club on Saturday.
Wigan currently sit six points adrift of safety in the table, but Pennant is confident that they can get themselves out of trouble.
"It's a fight down at the bottom, it's a simple as that, but we've got 14 games to go and it's by no means over," he told the club's official website. "All we need to do is get a couple of victories in a row and get that confidence back to help us stay in this league.
"I'm going to give everything I've got, it's a fight, so the main thing is I've got to muck in. Working hard is the main thing when you're fighting against relegation and I'm prepared to do that. I'm not afraid of doing the dirty work, whether that's running up and down the length of the pitch or putting in some telling challenges."
Pennant could make his Wigan debut on Tuesday when they host Cardiff City in the league.
