David Moyes praises Roberto Martinez ahead of their showdown at the DW Stadium.

Everton boss David Moyes has backed opposite number Roberto Martinez to lead his side to safety for the second consecutive season.

The Latics boss, who took over at the club in the summer of 2009 after Steve Bruce's departure, steered his side clear of the drop with a win at the Britannia Stadium in their final game of the season, despite struggling for much of the campaign.

"[Martinez] has done a great job at Wigan," the Scot told reporters.

"Wherever Wigan end up, for me, Roberto has gone in there and done as good a job as anybody could do, he really has. He's kept them playing good football and he's got good players.

"I think most people this time last year were writing them off saying they had no chance and they did brilliantly to come through. So he's been there before."

Depending on outside results, defeat this weekend could leave Wigan six points adrift of 19th place in the Premier League.
