Shaun Maloney played his first competitive football for five months in a development match for Wigan Athletic today.
The Scottish winger had been out of action since October with back and hip problems.
Today, 31-year-old Maloney played 45 minutes for the Latics' development squad against Morecambe in the Final Third Development League Cup.
In the five league starts that Maloney did make earlier this season he scored three goals.
