West Ham United have completed the signing of striker Danny Ings from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £15m.

The 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract until the summer of 2025 after successfully passing his medical in London on Thursday night.

Ings leaves Villa after 18 months with the West Midlands outfit and becomes David Moyes's second signing of the January transfer window after Brazilian centre-back Luizao.

Speaking to West Ham's official website on his arrival at the club, Ings said: "I'm really excited to join West Ham United. It's important I settle in as quickly as I can do – and do the important stuff on the pitch for West Ham.

"We've got some massive games ahead of us – and I've come here to try and score as many goals as I can to help the team to get some positive results. I'm really looking forward to getting started."

Moyes added: "I'm really pleased to add Danny to the squad. He is a proven Premier League goalscorer and will add great competition for places in the attacking third.

"We're looking forward to integrating him into the group, as we go into a busy period in our season."

Born in Winchester, Ings has established himself as a proven Premier League scorer during his career, netting a total of 68 goals across spells with Burnley, Liverpool, Southampton and Aston Villa at a rate of better than one in every three matches.

The striker scored 32 top-flight goals in his final two years with Southampton before leaving in the summer of 2021 to join Villa, where he recorded 14 goals and eight assists in 52 games across all competitions.

Ings leaves Villa as their top scorer this season with seven strikes to his name, and will now compete with Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio for a starting berth in Moyes's side.

West Ham's new No.18 has been registered in time to make his debut in Saturday's Premier League showdown with relegation rivals Everton at the London Stadium.

The Hammers – who have scored the second-fewest goals (15) in the top flight so far this season – currently sit 18th in the table, level on points with both Everton and Southampton below them.
