Gold: 'Allardyce has vindicated himself'

West Ham United joint-chairman David Gold has claimed that manager Sam Allardyce has "vindicated himself" following the team's improved form.

Allardyce's job at Upton Park was in doubt at the turn of the year, but four straight wins for the Hammers has seen him guide them up to 10th place in the table.

Gold is pleased that the 59-year-old is now getting praise for turning the side's fortunes around.

"Fans are frustrated, are angry and the first thing that happens is that they want a change of manager, then the second thing they want a change of the chairmen," he told the club's official website. "It comes with the territory, and there's no question that Sam's vindicated himself and I'm delighted for him."

West Ham are back in action on Saturday when they make the trip to Everton in the Premier League.
