Cole charged by FA for social media comment

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has been charged by the Football Association for a comment that he is alleged to have made on social media.

It is alleged that the 31-year-old's comment was "abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or brings the game into disrepute".

The charge is understood to be related to a response that Cole made to another user on Twitter.

The forward has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.

West Ham are back in action tomorrow night when they welcome Chelsea to Upton Park in the Premier League.
