Slaven Bilic surprised by Dimitri Payet's adjustment at West Ham United

West Ham United coach Slaven Bilic admits that he has been surprised by how quickly Dimitri Payet has settled at the club.

West Ham United coach Slaven Bilic has admitted that he has been surprised by how quickly Dimitri Payet has settled at the club.

The £10m summer signing from Marseille caught the eye in the opening-weekend victory away to Arsenal, before scoring against Leicester City in last weekend's defeat.

Bilic said that he was never in any doubt about the playmaker's ability, but the Croat admits that he has been taken aback by how fast the new man has settled into life in the Premier League.

"I really wanted him and there wasn't a question mark about his ability," Bilic told reporters.

"It is obvious, you don't have to be a football genius to see that, but there was a bit of question mark if he was going to do it straight away because you need to adapt, new language, new country, new style of football.

"He has clicked in a new environment [despite having] a new coach, new teammates, new everything."

The Hammers host Bournemouth this weekend.
