Ben Foster: 'ACL recovery going well'

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster says that his recovery from ACL surgery is "going really, really well" as he targets an October return.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has said that his recovery from surgery on a torn ACL is "going really, really well".

The England international sustained the injury during a Premier League match against Stoke City in March, and is expected to be sidelined until at least October.

The 32-year-old told the Daily Star: "We are looking at mid-October, you have to do the six months. I knew that from the start so there is no point getting down about it because you know you can't come back any earlier.

"It is progressing. Every week I can start doing a little bit more and I can do more dynamic stuff. It is going really, really well, touch wood it continues that way. I have had no setbacks or no twinges or pain, the rehab is going well.

"You can't get ahead of schedule with a cruciate. It is a six month minimum and you can't come back any earlier. Just for the fact that they had to drill holes and take tendon away and attach it all in and screw in so it takes time to knit in properly."

Foster joined the Baggies from local rivals Birmingham City in 2012 following a loan spell.
