Result: Werder Bremen, Freiburg register first 0-0 of season

Werder Bremen and Freburg draw 0-0 to register the first game of the season without any goals.

Werder Bremen and Freiburg have registered the first 0-0 draw of the Bundesliga season, with the sides sharing the points in a stalemate.

The game was not short of chances and indeed Admir Mehmedi fired an effort just over inside the opening three minutes.

Then Julian Schuster came close to breaking the deadlock on eight minutes but his low effort was stopped by Sebastian Mielitz in the Werder goal.

Werder then came into the game and both Nils Petersen and Aaron Hunt tested Oliver Baumann in the away net.

As the game wore on Bremen created more and more chances, with Eljero Elia guilty of a miss from inside the box that should have at least worked the goalkeeper.

However, they were unable to find the net and had to settle for just the one point.

Moenchengladbach's striker Max Kruse and his teammates celebrate scoring during the German first division Bundesliga football match Borussia Moenchengladbach vs Hanover 96 in the German city of Moenchengladbach on August 17, 2013.
