Quique Flores "pleased" with Watford display in Wembley defeat

Quique Flores takes the positives from Watford's defeat to Crystal Palace and claims that there are still "a lot of reasons to be happy".

Watford boss Quique Flores has declared himself "pleased" with his side's performance in this evening's defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Hornets suffered a crushing 2-1 loss at Wembley to see their hopes of winning the FA Cup for the first time come to an end at the semi-final stage.

Despite the setback, Flores insists that Watford have already achieved their main target this season - surviving the Premier League drop in their first campaign back in the top flight.

"I am pleased with the performance," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It was difficult to play Palace who defend with an English style and have pace and power.

"It was hard after conceding the first goal. It took some time to recover. We came back and in the second half we matched Palace. In this moment, I feel we had the chance to win the match. The most important thing is that we are competitive in the semi-final.

"We have a lot of reasons to be happy this season. The main target was to stay in the Premier League. In the future when we look at the history of Watford we will see how important this season was for the club."

Recent reports suggest that ex-Atletico Madrid boss Flores could be on his way out of Vicarage Road this summer.
