European Under21 Championship: 10 players to watch

Sports Mole brings you 10 players that we believe will be worth watching at the upcoming European Under-21 Championship.

The European Under-21 Championship gets underway this afternoon in Israel.

With scouts from all across Europe expected to be attendance over the next couple of weeks, Sports Mole has compiled a list of the 10 players that could well catch the eye.

Isco, Spain and Malaga

Having shone in the Champions League last season, the playmaker has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and Manchester City this summer.

Kevin Strootman, Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven

The 23-year-old is believed to be a target of incoming Manchester United manager David Moyes.

Lorenzo Insigne, Italy and Napoli

Having spent time on loan over the last couple of years, the striker returned to Napoli and scored five goals during the most recent campaign.

Oleg Shatov, Russia and Anzhi Makhachkala

While most eyes will be on Alan Dzagoev, Shatov has been impressive for Anzhi in recent months, laying on numerous goals for his teammates.

Daniel Carvajal, Spain and Real Madrid

He was sold to Bayer Leverkusen but officials at Los Blancos saw enough to trigger his buy-back clause earlier this month.

Sebastian Rode, Germany and Bayern Munich

The midfielder's performances for Eintracht Frankfurt have caught the attention of Bayern Munich and he will join the German and European champions later this summer.

Jordy Clasie, Netherlands and Feyenoord

Dubbed the 'Dutch Xavi', the 21-year-old is seen as one of Holland's most creative footballers.

Wilfried Zaha, England and Manchester United

Having shone in the playoffs for Crystal Palace, Zaha will return to his parent club Manchester United next month.

Marco Verratti, Italy and Paris Saint-Germain

The 20-year-old took a big step last year in moving to another country, but he showed his ability with a string of impressive performances for the French champions.

Patrick Herrmann, Germany and Borussia Monchengladbach

He was charged with the task of replacing Marco Reus, who joined Borrusia Dortmund last summer, and did so admirably.
