Schalke keen on Rafael Van der Vaart, Salomon Kalou

Schalke manager Huub Stevens has insisted that the club are still keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart and unattached striker Saloman Kalou.

Stevens worked with Van der Vaart at Hamburg, while he has admitted that the German club have a "chance" of signing former Chelsea forward Kalou.

"I would love to work with Rafael again. We have contacts with his agent... There are many other clubs keen on Kalou. Liverpool for example, but I know for sure he wants to move away from England. This could be our chance," he told reporters.

Schalke finished the Bundesliga season in third place.
