Preview: Tigre vs. Talleres - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Argentine Primera Division clash between Tigre and Talleres, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Talleres Cordoba will be keen to arrest a poor run of form when they take on Tigre this weekend.

The visitors are hovering towards the bottom of the table with a woeful points return from their opening five fixtures.

Match preview

Boasting one win from their first five Argentine Primera Division fixtures, it has been a difficult start to the campaign for Talleres.

Since starting the current section of the season in June, Talleres have notched up only one victory, coming on the first matchday against Sarmiento Junin.

Defeats against Independiente and Newell's Old Boys followed, before a draw against Arsenal Sarandi and another defeat last weekend to Central Cordoba followed.

While the format of the Argentine league dictates relegation is calculated using an average points tally system across three years, and not the conventional methods used in European leagues, Talleres' form will still provide some concern.

Ahead of Talleres in the table, Tigre will also be looking to climb up the division after enduring an indifferent start themselves.

With five points to their name, Tigre also boast just one victory so far, but have been able to fend off unwanted defeats.

Two draws so far, including a stalemate last time out against challengers San Lorenzo, does at least show some signs of stability for Tigre.

The hosts will take confidence from their record against Talleres as they are unbeaten against the Cordoba outfit since April 2006.

Five matches have passed since Tigre last lost to Talleres, with the home side no doubt desperate to extend that record this weekend.

Team News

The Talleres woes were made worse when Christian Oliva was sent off, meaning that the midfielder will miss the weekend fixture through suspension.

Federico Girotti netted in Talleres' last victory and the forward will be looking to cause Tigre problems this weekend.

While they are not contending with any suspensions, Tigre will be without Blas Armoa, as the forward is missing with a muscle problem.

Mateo Retegui will deputise for Armoa, with the Boca Juniors loanee starting up front for the visitors.

Tigre possible starting lineup:
Roffo; Blondel, Cabrera, Luciatti, Sosa; Fernandez, Protti, Zabala, Menossi, Colidio; Retegui

Talleres possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Buffarini, Malatini, Perez, Martino; Oliva, Villagra; Godoy, Garro, Fertoli; Girotti

We say: Tigre 1-0 Talleres

As a club in the knockouts of the Libertadores, Talleres will feel as though their performances so far this season are well under par.

Looking to capitalise on their opponents' misfortune, Tigre will welcome the strugglers and should take victory this weekend.
