Tahiti striker Marama Vahirua has admitted that his team are just looking to mark their appearance at the Confederations Cup with a goal.

Vahirua, who plays for French side Nancy, is the only professional player in the side and said that scoring just one goal at the tournament is the summit of their aspirations in Brazil.

"A goal for us, it will be a victory in the competition, no matter who [scores]," Vahirua told L'Equpe.

"I did not come here to have fun but to defend the colours of Tahiti and French football. If we can at least score a goal."

Tahiti play Nigeria in their opening game.
