O'Neill facing Sunderland striker crisis

New Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is facing a striker crisis ahead of his first game in charge of the club.

The Black Cats may only have Ji Dong-Won and Ryan Noble available to lead the line against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday after it was revealed that Nicklas Bendtner is struggling for fitness.

"Nicklas has a groin problem and we'll see how he is towards the weekend, but if the game was today he wouldn't make it as it stands," said O'Neill.

The North East side are currently without Connor Wickham and Fraizer Campbell through long-term injuries.
