Scottish League One roundup: Stranraer beat Ayr United to stay top

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's Scottish League One action as Stranraer remain top of the league courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Ayr.

Stranraer cemented their position at the top of Scottish League One after beating Ayr United 1-0 this afternoon.

Craig Malcolm got the only goal of the game to ensure that Stranraer stay one point above the chasing pack.

Elsewhere, Forfar Athletic beat Stenhousemuir 3-1 to leapfrog Greenock Morton into second place. Gavin Swankie got one and Martin Fotheringham scored twice, with Colin McMenamin scoring for the home side, who had Anthony Marenghi sent off for two yellow cards.

Morton lost 2-0 at home to Brechin City thanks to a Bobby Barr penalty and a Jamie Masson free kick.

Two Bryan Prunty penalties helped Airdrieonians see off bottom-placed side Stirling Albion 2-0, while Andy Rodgers and Michael Moffat scored for their respective teams as Peterhead and Dunfermline Athletic drew 1-1.

Results in full: Greenock Morton 0-2 Brechin City; Peterhead 1-1 Dunfermline Athletic; Stenhousemuir 1-3 Forfar; Stirling 0-2 Airdrieonians; Stranraer 1-0 Ayr.
