Stoke City reportedly emerge as favourites to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone on loan this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to allow midfielder Tom Huddlestone to leave the club on loan this summer.

The 25-year-old England international has not played a competitive match for Spurs since August 2011, as a result of a long-term ankle injury.

Despite overcoming the injury in time for the start of pre-season training, he was used sparingly in the club's warm-up games before being left out of the squad completely for Saturday's opening-day defeat at Newcastle United.

According to The Guardian, there is a strong possibility that Huddlestone could join Stoke City later this month on a season-long loan.

Huddlestone, who moved to White Hart Lane in a £2.5m deal from Derby County in July 2005, has 34 months remaining on his current contract.
