Stoke City confirm loan deal for Everton defender Cuco Martina

Stoke City have announced the loan signing of Everton defender Cuco Martina.

The Potters have recorded just one point from their opening two fixtures in the Championship, and it has resulted in manager Gary Rowett looking to make further additions before the end of August.

Stoke have already secured a loan deal for Ashley Williams, and the Staffordshire-based outfit have now returned to the Toffees to bring in Martina on a temporary basis.

The versatile full-back made 28 appearances during his first season at Goodison Park, but the 28-year-old does not feature in the plans of new boss Marco Silva.

The move is yet to be confirmed by the EFL and Football Association, leaving a doubt over whether Martina will be able to feature against Preston North End on Saturday evening.
