Charlie Adam: 'Mark Hughes has given me freedom'

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has hailed manager Mark Hughes as the catalyst for his recent prolific form.

The Scot, who has scored six league goals for the Potters this season, reveals that his new manager at the Britannia Stadium has played a key role in allowing him to get forward more.

"The manager has given me a freedom to play my game, which I appreciate," Adam told The Guardian.

"He has let me do what I am good at. He has helped me in terms of what I should and shouldn't be doing on the pitch.

"I have respected every manager I have played under but if you can't learn from someone like Mark Hughes, it is going to be hard for you."

Adam is in action against Manchester City in today's Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium.
