Tottenham Hotspur's out-of-contract midfielder David Bentley emerges as a reported transfer target for Stoke City.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is reportedly preparing a move for Tottenham Hotspur's out-of-contract midfielder David Bentley.

The right-winger, who is available on a free transfer, spent the second part of last season on loan at Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers.

The club are keen for the England midfielder to return to Ewood Park, but according to Sky Sports News, Stoke are hopeful of securing his signature for the new season.

Bentley endured a productive spell under Hughes when the pair were at Blackburn.
