Neil Warnock: Harry Redknapp is only option for England

Neil Warnock says that he can't "see anyone else" but Harry Redknapp becoming the new England manager.

Neil Warnock believes that Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is the only Englishman worthy of becoming the national team's new manager.

The 64-year-old has been tipped as the likely replacement for Fabio Capello, who resigned yesterday following controversy surrounding John Terry's dismissal from the England captaincy.

"We need an English humour, we've never had anybody like Harry Redknapp in our sights when it has come up before and we can't let him go now," Warnock told talkSPORT. "He knows the game and the one qualification Harry has got is experience and [understanding how to] treat all these big-time Charlies.

"He can look after that and make sure they play their own way as well. For me they've just got to go and get him. Alright, he might fail, he's got a hell of a job with all the countries he has got to compete with but the one thing about Harry is he'll get the best out of what we have got.

"He's not afraid to give younger lads an opportunity, he'll give his coaches the chance to do the coaching and he has seen it all before."

While the former Queens Park Rangers manager revealed his eagerness in Redknapp taking the role, Warnock understands that Tottenham's supporters will feel deflated if they lose their boss.

"I know it is going to be disappointing for Spurs fans but he is going to leave them in the top three or four of the country," Warnock added. "I just don't see anybody else, I honestly don't."

Redknapp has received backing from England players including Jack Wilshere, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney.
