Steve Bruce: 'We didn't deserve to get knocked out'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce praises his side's performance during their League Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has praised his players following this evening's penalty shootout defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.

The Tigers boss described his side's display as "magnificent" after watching them hold Spurs 2-2 after extra time.

"To a man my players were magnificent. They didn't deserve to go out of the cup but it wasn't our day today. We had the better chances," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

Ahmed Elmohamady missed the decisive spot kick as Spurs progressed to the quarter-finals with an 8-7 win.
