Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Tottenham injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Newcastle United for their first ever trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Spurs managed to clinch an impressive 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad after a controversial disallowed late strike from Gabriel Jesus, whereas Newcastle fell to a disappointing 3-1 drubbing at the hands of Norwich City at Carrow Road.

An Erik Lamela strike from range and a Lucas Moura header just 19 seconds after coming on sealed what had seemed an unlikely point at the home of the champions for Spurs, and Mauricio Pochettino's men will be looking to pick up three more against Steve Bruce's already beleaguered Toon.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the Lilywhites.

Dele Alli

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: August 25 (vs. Newcastle United)

Dele Alli could return from his latest hamstring injury to feature for the first time this season against Newcastle United.

Juan Foyth

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Southampton)

Juan Foyth will be out until late September at the earliest after injuring his ankle against Bayern Munich in pre season.

Ben Davies

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: August 25 (vs. Newcastle United)

Ben Davies is yet to feature for Tottenham this season having struggled with a groin injury, but he was back on the bench against Manchester City. The full-back should be fit to return if selected against Newcastle.

Ryan Sessegnon

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Tottenham fans will have to wait until after the international break to see their deadline-day signing from Fulham, who is still nursing a hamstring injury picked up in the summer.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S SUSPENSION LIST

Son Heung-min has now served his three-match ban which carried over from last season, so Spurs have no players suspended for his match.
