Sporting Kansas City stroll past 10-man Chivas USA

Sporting Kansas City have returned to winning ways today with a comfortable 4-0 victory over struggling Chivas USA.

Kansas suffered their first home loss in more than a year last weekend, but were positive at the outset against Chivas, who went into the clash without a win in three matches.

Jacob Peterson and Aurelien Collin both went close for the home side, but they finally broke the deadlock five minutes before the break.

Claudio Bieler applied the finish from close range with a measured effort into the bottom corner after neat approach play from Graham Zusi.

Any hopes of a Chivas comeback were effectively ended early in the second half when defender Dan Kennedy conceded a penalty for a late challenge on Paulo Nagamura.

Kennedy received a red card for the desperate lunge, with Bieler stepping up to score his second from the penalty spot.

Zusi added gloss to the scoreline with a powerful right-footed strike late on, before C.J. Sapong completed the rout by tapping home from close range.
