De Gea left out of Spain's 23-man squad for March internationals

Spain boss Luis Enrique has left David de Gea out of his 23-man squad for the national team's upcoming international friendlies with Albania and Iceland.

De Gea has been one of Manchester United's most consistent players in a disappointing campaign for the Red Devils, but he is not in La Roja's latest selection, with Brentford's David Raya instead receiving a call-up.

Leeds United's Diego Llorente has been handed a spot in the squad, while there are also opportunities for Gavi (Barcelona) and Carlos Soler (Valencia) to add to their four caps.

Villarreal's Yeremi Pino and Espanyol's Raul de Tomas have also been rewarded for their impressive form at club level this season with positions in the squad for the friendly matches.

Alvaro Morata, who is on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid, is comfortably the leading scorer in the squad with 23 goals in 50 matches.

Meanwhile, there are also spots in the attacking areas for Barcelona's Ferran Torres and Sporting Lisbon's Pablo Sarabia.
