Fabregas "happy and proud" to reach century

Cesc Fabregas has revealed his delight after captaining Spain on what was his 100th international cap on Monday evening.

The Chelsea midfielder was given the armband for La Roja's final Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine, which the visitors won 1-0 to make it nine wins from 10 matches in Group C.

Fabregas missed a penalty in Kiev, but has instead decided to focus on the achievement itself as he reached a century of appearances for his nation.

"I'm happy and proud. I'm satisfied with the work done and I'm eager for more matches," AS quotes Fabregas as saying.

"It's taken almost 100 games to wear the armband and hopefully it will happen again many more times. I'm very happy to wear the shirt of the national team."

Fabregas, who made his Spain debut in 2006, has netted 14 goals for his country.
