Southend midfielder Timlin jailed

Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin has been jailed for 84 days for perverting the course of justice.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of perverting the course of justice after supplying false details in an attempt to avoid speeding fines.

He also admitted to driving 74mph in a 50mph-limited zone, receiving four points on his licence and an £80 fine.

Timlin broke his leg in February and is expected to be out of action until October.
