The Shrimpers, who sit two points clear of Bury in fourth, will advance into League One if they beat Morecambe away on the final day, while a draw may also suffice if the Shakers slip up away to Tranmere Rovers.

Southend kicked off the month with a 2-0 win over Mansfield, before earning back-to-back hard-fought victories over Hartlepool and Tranmere respectively.

Brown's side then edged out Newport County and won their last three by a 1-0 scoreline to sit on the cusp of League One.
