Barrett claims League Two Player of the Month

Southend United defender Adam Barrett has won League Two's Player of the Month in April after helping the promotion-chasing Shrimpers to seven straight clean sheets.

Phil Brown's side sit on the brink of advancing into League One after stringing together a seven-match unbeaten run, thanks in no small part to Barrett, who played every minute in April.

United, who sit two points above fourth-placed Bury, will progress into England's third tier if they beat Morecambe on the final day of the season on Saturday.
