Ronald Koeman to forget Victor Wanyama transfer request

Koeman to forget Wanyama transfer request

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has stated that he is willing to forget about Victor Wanyama's attempt to push through a move away from the club.

The midfielder handed in a transfer request as the summer transfer window drew to a close, amidst speculation linking him with Tottenham Hotspur, but the Saints immediately rejected it.

Koeman has revealed that he has held clear-the-air talks with the Kenya international and he is now ready to return to the team.

"We know that it was a hard fight but I think our statement was very clear to everybody; nobody for sale," Koeman told The Express.

"We know the future, Victor knows the future, and I spoke to Victor yesterday and he's back with a real focus for the team, and if he's back like that, he's part of the team.

"When I spoke to Victor yesterday, already it was a different person than he was in the last week of the transfer window. If the player shows real commitment to everybody at the club, I can forget what happened in the last week."

Southampton face West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
