Shane Long "on the mend"

Southampton striker Shane Long has revealed that he is "on the mend" from a broken rib.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury, which is likely to sideline him for a number of weeks, during his side's 3-2 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Long joined the Saints in the summer for a reported £12m, just six months after he had signed for Hull City.
