Half-Time Report: Adam Lallana lashes Southampton ahead against Swansea City

Adam Lallana rifles into the top corner to give Southampton the lead over Swansea City at the break in their Premier League clash.

Southampton have scored their first Premier League goal in the first half this season to lead Swansea City at the break at St Mary's Stadium.

The first meaningful attempt of the match came after seven minutes when Pablo Osvaldo drove into the area before firing wide of the near post from a tight angle.

A little over 10 minutes later the deadlock was broken when Steven Davis fed Adam Lallana, who lashed into the roof of the net from inside the area.

Swansea came into the match after the midway point of the half and tested Artur Boruc for the first time when Michu headed towards the corner and was denied by the Polish goalkeeper.

Moments later Boruc was again in action as Jonjo Shelvey's shot forced the former Celtic man into a low save.

Swansea were centimetres from levelling in the 36th minute when Wilfried Bony's back-heel found Nathan Dyer, who beat Boruc but not the inside of the post.

The Swans were ending the half well and were again denied by Boruc, who sprung to his left to keep out Bony's powerful header.
