Shin Tae-yong: 'South Korea could struggle against Mexico due to weather'

South Korea boss: 'Weather favours Mexico'

South Korea boss Shin Tae-yong has claimed that the hot weather in Rostov-on-Don will work in Mexico's favour when the two teams lock horns in Saturday's World Cup Group F encounter.

The Taeguk Warriors are in dire need of a win if they are to remain in contention for the last 16, having lost 1-0 to Sweden in their tournament opener in Nizhny Novgorod.

Mexico, meanwhile, ran out 1-0 winners over reigning world champions Germany, and Shin is hoping that the temperature cools down by the time the match against El Tri gets underway.

"It is a lot hotter than we expected," Shin told reporters. "I think there is about a 15-degree difference compared to our previous site.

"Our players really have to adjust, but I think at 6pm it starts to get a little bit windy and once the sun sets down, it will be okay.

"I think the weather will have an influence, and I think it will work in favour of the Mexico team because they are used to the hot weather. I think the change in the weather will probably impact us negatively."

South Korea are winless in seven World Cup matches, losing their last three in a row.
