Half-Time Report: South Africa being held by Mozambique in African Nations Championship opener

South Africa are being held to a 1-1 draw at half time in the opening game of the African Nations Championship.

South Africa are being held 1-1 at half time by Mozambique in the opening game of the African Nations Championship.

Mozambique took a shock lead early on through Luisa Diogo, who collected the ball on the edge of the area, before getting a shot away which was heavily deflected into the back of the net.

The hosts soon drew level, however, as the referee awarded a penalty as a result of Bryce Moon being brought down by Chico Muchanga when bearing down on goal.

Bernard Parker stepped up to take the resultant spot kick and scored to bring Bafana Bafana level.
