Sochaux earn point against Valenciennes

A late goal from Opa Nguette sees Valenciennes earn a 1-1 draw at Sochaux in Ligue 1.

Sochaux and Valenciennes have played out a 1-1 draw with each other at Stade Auguste-Bonal in Ligue 1.

The home side took the lead as early as the eighth minute when Ryad Boudebouz headed home from close range.

Boudebouz could have doubled his side's advantage 10 minutes later had he been able to keep his shot from the right side of the box on target.

Sebastien Corchia and Cedric Kante had chances for Sochaux in the remaining minutes of the first half, while Gregory Pujol came close with a header on the half-hour mark for the visitors.

The hosts continued to dominate proceedings in the second half and were unlucky not to go 2-0 up on 55 minutes when Kante's header from Boudebouz's corner came off the crossbar.

Valenciennes eventually rescued a point eight minutes from full time, thanks to Opa Nguette's left-footed effort from inside the Sochaux box.
