Preview: Sheffield Wednesday vs. Wigan Athletic

Sports Mole looks ahead to Tuesday night's Championship meeting as Sheffield Wednesday try to make it nine games unbeaten against Wigan Athletic.

In-form Sheffield Wednesday face Wigan Athletic in the Championship on Tuesday night and could move more than 10 points clear of the bottom three with a win.

The Owls' fortunes have improved drastically under manager Stuart Gray, and they are now unbeaten in eight league games after Saturday's 2-0 victory at top-six side Reading.

Tuesday's visit of Wigan is taking place after the initial fixture was abandoned back in December because of heavy rain when the Latics were leading 1-0.

Gray remains without the suspended duo of Giles Coke and Jermaine Johnson and should start with Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe up front.

Wigan, meanwhile, still harbour ambitions for a run at the playoffs and this game is one of two in hand on many teams around them.

Even though Huddersfield Town got the better of them on Saturday, Wigan are just seven points off the playoffs as the season heads towards its business end.

Manager Uwe Rosler could again be without Nick Powell, while James McClean, Callum McManaman and Nicky Maynard are expected to start for the Latics.
