Scunthorpe United sack manager Nick Daws

Scunthorpe United have sacked manager Nick Daws following Wednesday's 5-0 loss at home to Fleetwood Town.

The Iron fell to a convincing defeat at the hands of Joey Barton's Fleetwood side at Glanford Park, going 4-0 down inside half an hour to set them on course for a third successive loss in all competitions.

Scunthorpe have picked up just four points from their first four games of the League One season, with their only victory coming away to Coventry City on the opening day of the campaign.

Scunthorpe United have parted company with manager Nick Daws.

We'd like to wish Nick all the best going forward, and thank him for his efforts while with the Iron.

Andy Dawson will take charge of the team against Barnsley on Saturday.

Daws was only handed the permanent reins at Glanford Park in May, having steered Scunthorpe to the League One playoffs as caretaker boss last season.
