David Weir: 'Changing coach is not going to solve Scotland's problems'

Weir backs Levein

Former Scotland captain David Weir believes that coach Craig Levein should not be sacked.

The 47-year-old has come under pressure following Scotland's disappointing start to the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Scots are currently at the bottom of Group A with just two points from four matches.

"I don't think removing Craig from his position is going to solve the problem," Weir told the BBC .

"I don't think that, by removing Craig, we'll all of a sudden qualify for championships - I don't think that's the case. I don't think changing the manager is going to solve the problem."

Weir is currently serving as a reserve team coach at Everton.
