Scotland's Scott Brown 'to make international retirement U-turn'

Scott Brown has informed Gordon Strachan that he is willing to lift his international retirement to help Scotland in their bid to reach the World Cup, a report claims.

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown will reportedly be named in Scotland's squad to face England next month after taking the decision to reverse his international retirement.

The 31-year-old called time on his career with the Tartan Army ahead of the ongoing World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign, missing his side's fixtures against Malta, Lithuania and Slovakia over the past two months.

According to the Daily Record, however, Brown is now out of retirement and is in line to start November's Battle of Britain showdown against England, with Scotland desperately requiring a positive result to keep their qualifying hopes alive.

It is claimed that the decision is not merely a one-off for the crunch clash at Wembley, and he will make himself available for the foreseeable future - likely up to the end of the current World Cup campaign.

Gordon Strachan will be without a number of key men for the England match, as Robert Snodgrass, James Morrison and Charlie Mulgrew are all expected to miss out due to injury and fitness concerns.
