Fabio Capello confirmed as Russia coach

Former England manager Fabio Capello has been named as the next Russia coach pending the signing of his contract.

Capello has been tipped over the last few weeks as the next Russian coach, and the Russian Football Union has now confirmed this in a statement.

"Today we have decided to name Fabio Capello as the manager of Russia," the RFU vice-president Nikita Simonyan said.

"We are now waiting in Moscow for the finalisation of the remaining details of the contract before he signs. I think it will happen on Wednesday or Thursday."

Capello resigned as England manager in March this year.
