Preview: Rotherham United vs. Huddersfield Town

Sports Mole previews the Yorkshire derby in the Championship between Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town on Boxing Day.

Huddersfield Town will make the 30-mile trip down the M1 to face fellow Championship strugglers Rotherham United on Boxing Day.

The Yorkshire pair go into the game both on 24 points 19th and 20th in the table, with Rotherham just ahead because of their superior goal difference.

The Millers climbed up a couple of places over the weekend thanks to an important 2-1 victory over one of the sides below them, Wigan Athletic.

It was their first win in 10 games and took them five points above the drop zone. They now face another six-pointer before a trip to rockbottom Blackpool on Sunday.

Steve Evans will view both as must-win games as three of the first five fixtures in the New Year are against the current top three of Bournemouth, Ipswich Town and Brentford.

While the Millers are on the up, Huddersfield have lost three of their last four games and saw their seven-game unbeaten home run fall on Saturday when resurgent Birmingham City snatched a 1-0 win.

Chris Powell won't need to be told about their poor away form either - the Terriers are hoping to end a six-game unbeaten stretch on the road that includes four straight defeats in which 12 goals have been let in.

They will take confidence from their recent record against Rotherham, though, having won five games in a row against the Millers in all competitions.

James Vaughan is yet to start a game since making his return from injury this month, but Powell may wish to give him his first start since September following Saturday's scoreless outing against Birmingham.
