Kevin Strootman did not expect to leave PSV Eindhoven

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has insisted that he did not expect to leave PSV Eindhoven this summer, particularly not for a large transfer fee.

Strootman said that he had a good feeling about Roma as soon as he started to speak to the club about the move.

"PSV sold a lot of players during the last transfer window, but that is not what pushed me away," he told Voetbal International.

"To be honest, I didn't think I would leave. But what happened is very simple – I was strongly wanted by Roma and there was instantly a good feeling between us."

Strootman has 20 caps and two goals for the Netherlands.
