Jonathan Walters has described captaining his country as the "proudest moment" of his career.
The Stoke City forward, 30, led the Republic of Ireland against Poland in an international friendly last night that ended as a goalless draw in Poznan.
Walters tweeted this morning: "To captain my country was the proudest moment of my career so far bar none! Thanks for all the kind messages...exciting times ahead #COYBIG (Come on you boys in green)"
Walters now returns to Staffordshire as the Potters prepare to host fellow Premier League strugglers Sunderland on Saturday.
